Heugstatt
description
Hikers can experience a different kind of mountain tour on the 1262m high Heugstatt in the northern Bavarian Forest. Its summit plateau is not made of rock and stone, but a wonderfully beautiful lawn that was used as an alp meadow for young cattle up to the 1950s.
Today the long distance trail E6 and Goldsteig lead from the Arber to the Kaitersberg and Eck over the Heugstatt that marks also the middle of the Arber ridge.
The Heugstatt is a 1262 meters high, quiet mountain not far from the famous Großer Arber. Under the top on the west the mountain shelter Schareben is located. There starts the shortest ascent to the Heugstatt. The Heugstatt marks the middle of the Arber ridge, a drawn-out mountain ridge in the Bavarian Forest. Surrounded by grass, almost waist-high blueberry bushes and the unique forest wilderness the stress of daily life is quickly forgotten here.
