description

Friedl Thorward, the "Luis Trenker of the Bavarian Forest", called the 1340m high Mittagsplatzl once the "most beautiful place in the whole Bavarian Forest". They say, who once hiked to the meadow between Bodenmais and the Großer Arber, will always love to come back again.

What makes this former alp meadow so special, can be seen by the hiker at a second glance. Following the mark some meters to the east to the cliff, a unique view on the Großer Arbersee, to the Bohemian Forest and to the Großer Falkenstein in the National Park Bavarian Forest is revealed.

Various marked hiking paths from Bodenmais lead to the most beautiful place in the Bavarian Forest. A bit rockier and therefore only for surefooted hikers recommendable is the route from the Großer Arbersee through the lake wall.

Großer Falkenstein

The Großer Falkenstein is the landmark mountain of Lindberg. In about four hours you can climb the 1315m top of the Großer Falkenstein. Various hiking paths and mountain paths lead up to the top from which you have a free view over the Bavarian Forest.

Kleiner Arber

The kleiner Arber is located in the district of Cham and is with its 1384 metres the highest mountain in the "Nature Park Upper Bavarian Forest". Only a few kilometres separate him from the king of the Bavarian Forest, the Großer Arber in the district of Regen.

Großer Arber

The "Großer Arber" gets with its 1456 m to the climatic forest line as the only summit of the Bavarian-Bohemian border massive. Therefore, the highest mountain in the ARBERLAND is closer to the sky than to the earth.
